Join The Archbishop of York to keep a Vigil of Prayer as Parliament votes on the Brexit Deal

Categories: Uncategorized

The Archbishop of York has issued a call for Vigil of Prayer ahead of the Brexit vote on Tuesday: 11.xii.18.

Archbishop John has written the following as The Collect for those joining in to use:

God of eternal love and power, save our Parliamentary Democracy;

Protect our High Court of Parliament and all its members from partiality and prejudice;

That they may walk the path of kindness, justice and mercy.

Give them wisdom, insight and a concern for the common good.

The weight of their calling is too much to bear in their own strength,

Therefore we pray earnestly, Father, send them help from your Holy Place, and be their tower of strength.

Lord, graciously hear us. Amen.

Please add these to your prayers:

Lord, have mercy.

Christ, have mercy.

Lord, have mercy.

Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come;

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive them that trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

the power and the glory,

for ever and ever. Amen.
