FoodBank

FoodBank

The Holy Trinity Tottenham (HTT) Foodbank operates from the church hall weekly on Saturdays from 12 pm – 1 pm. It is a walk-in service. No referrals or vouchers are required to access food parcels.

The Foodbank was established in January 2017 when we realised the extent of food poverty within the community. “The crisis was right at our doorstep in Tottenham.” We couldn’t ignore this need. Inspired by the Mothers Union (MU) ethos of “Caring for Families” and our parish focus on “Community Engagement,” the HTT Mothers Union (MU) branch responded by launching a weekly service to supply emergency food packages/parcels, as well as other essentials to local families, lone parents, the unemployed and other vulnerable individuals within the community and beyond.

Spearheaded by Mrs Christiana Imoukhuede, members of the MU ran the service faithfully each Friday until the onset of the Covid pandemic. Members of the HTT Men’s Fellowship joined the mercurial efforts to combat the heightened level of food poverty that accompanied the various spells of lockdowns.

We currently serve over 500 families, with over 100 parcels given out weekly. Every needy person in our community is welcomed and served at the Foodbank. Before the covid pandemic, in addition to food provision, attendees also benefited from meetings with our partner organisations who offer wrap-around services, providing information and advice on various issues such as benefits, health & well-being, housing etc. This service is currently suspended but is under review for re-introduction.

Support

We gratefully acknowledge the unwavering support of partner organisations, without which this would have been unsustainable. We thank the London Community Fund, Fareshare, the Felix Project, church members and many other well-wishers locally and beyond the borders of Tottenham (individuals and Organisations) for their regular donations.

Contributions

We continue to solicit the support of well-meaning individuals and organisations for assistance/donations both financially and in-kind. As a general rule, we only take long-life, ambient food items – tins and packets. We will take freezer ready items, by arrangement only.
